Este curso ensina como utilizar o Pentaho, uma poderosa ferramenta open source de business intelligence.

O aluno aprenderá como utilizar o Pentaho em um projeto de BI, desenvolvendo uma solução profissional de BI desde a instalação das ferramentas até a publicação em um ambiente web disponível ao usuário.

Pendular Project

Pendular is an acronym for Pentaho End-user Layer. It offers a simple, light weight web front-end for Pentaho business intelligence end-users (as opposed to power users and administrators).

In comparison to Pentaho's standard front-end (mantle), Pendular offers a more simplified user interface that requires less screen real-estate. Some specific pendular features include:

• repository search with autocomplete
• dynamic, personalized tag cloud
• favorites - simple bookmark management (not yet implemented)
• what's new list
• minimal consumption of screen real-estate - Ideal for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets

Pendular is implemented as an AJAX thin client based on the YAHOO User Interface framework (YUI).

Pendular is packaged as a pentaho server plugin. This makes it very easy to install: simply drop the pendular directory (and its subdirectories) inside pentaho-solutions/system and restart the bi server. The plugin is picked up automatically by Pentaho and can be accessed at:http://_server_:_port_/pentaho/content/pendular/www/index.html The plugin also installs a Pendular menu item in the mantle Tools menu. You can access Pendular from there as well.

PCCP - Pentaho Community Change Password

After the Pentaho Event in Recife we decided to share some codes with the Community.
So I created a project at Google Code called PCCP (Pentaho Community Change Password).
About the Project:
PCCP (Pentaho Community Change Password) helps you with the functionality of changing the user password at Pentaho User Console (PUC).
This project might be helpful for some folks at the Pentaho Brazil Community.
We found some different ways of doing the same thing, so ASAP (as soon as possible) we will share the best solutions for you guys and keep it updated for the community.
Maybe Pentaho can put this code at the Pentaho Core Project.

Pentaho com JBoss (Pentaho with JBoss server)

Uma das coisas que mais me deixa orgulhoso é ver um aluno meu fazer uma grande contribuição para a comunidade.

Um tempo atrás em Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, um aluno chamado Raphael de Souza, excelente aluno por sinal, me pediu para ajudá-lo a colocar o Pentaho BI Server 3.8 CE no JBoss.

Eu disse que isso não fazia parte da ementa do curso que eu estava ministrando, porém como ele tinha esse desejo eu iria passar algumas documentações minhas para ele usar e colocar o Pentaho no JBoss, em troca disso eu pedi que ele fizesse um tutorial e devolvesse para a Comunidade esse conhecimento organizado. 

No dia seguinte ele fez e me mostrou o tutorial finalizado; confesso que adorei.

Esse excelente artigo não é muito conhecido por vocês, mas acredito que depois dessa divulgação que estou fazendo no meu blog, mais pessoas vão poder usufruir desse conhecimento.

Aproveito também para, mais uma vez, parabenizar o Raphael pelo excelente artigo.
