PCM 13 - Evento Internacional da Comunidade Pentaho

Em 2009 tive a oportunidade de participar do PCM em Barcelona, e desde aquele dia eu desejo participar todos os anos.
Infelizmente, por diversos motivos, somente depois de 4 anos eu pude voltar a participar deste evento.

Esse ano vou dar uma palestra sobre a Comunidade Pentaho Brasil, vou falar do livro que lançamos, chamado Pentaho na Prática, e também vou comentar sobre o nosso produto comunitário ''Saiku Chart Plus''. Também vou falar sobre nossos eventos brasileiros, sobre o perfil da nossa comunidade e contar um pouco sobre o excelente trabalho realizado, no Brasil, por todos da comunidade (o qual felizmente tem sido acompanhado de perto pela Pentaho, graças ao trabalho do Pedro Alves). O Pedro é o atual representante mundial da comunidade na Pentaho; para quem não sabe a Pentaho incorporou oficialmente as C*Tools e o Pedro, e hoje ele trabalha na Pentaho.

Sei que esse evento não é muito conhecido no Brasil, entretanto ele começou em 2008 na Alemanha, e todos os anos acontece em alguma cidade da Europa.

Todos os anos tenho acompanhado o PCM, em 2009 e em 2013 presencialmente, e nos outros anos através de blogs, twitter e videos que são depois disponibilizados. Assim, para quem quiser saber mais sobre o evento os links são:

Minha palestra ainda não foi finalizada e ainda existe espaço para sugestões vindas da comunidade. Vou ficar 6 dias com muitas pessoas da Pentaho, Partners e Geek Heroes como Matt Casters, Thomas, Julian Hyde, Paul, Tom, Pedro e outros, e posso aproveitar esse tempo para fazer perguntas, investigar, etc; estou disposto a ajudar a comunidade no que for necessário e possível.

Alguém deseja manifestar algo?  Alguma pergunta? Problema? Necessidade? Desejo? Feedback? Positivo? Negativo? Eu posso repassar para toda a comunidade mundial.

I believe in BYOD (Bring your own device)

Some years ago a friend of mine told me about the BYOD (Bring your own device) idea.

Since that time I believe in this idea, unfortunately the IT departament in a lof of companies do not implement new ideas and a lot of them are living in the past.

But today a lot of big companies are implementing it.

What is BYOD?

"Bring your own device (BYOD) (also called bring your own technology (BYOT), bring your own phone (BYOP), and bring your own PC (BYOPC)) means the policy of permitting employees to bring personally owned mobile devices (laptops, tablets, and smart phones) to their workplace, and use those devices to access privileged company information and applications.^[1] The term is also used to describe the same practice applied to students using personally owned devices in education settings.^[2]

BYOD is making significant inroads in the business world, with about 75% of employees in high growth markets such as Brazil and Russia and 44% in developed markets already using their own technology at work.^[3] In most cases, businesses simply can't block the trend. Some^[who?] believe that BYOD may help employees be more productive.^[4]Others^[who?] say it increases employee morale and convenience by using their own devices and makes the company look like a flexible and attractive employer.^[5] Many^[who?] feel that BYOD can even be a means to attract new hires, pointing to a survey that indicates 44% of job seekers view an organization more positively if it supports their device. ^[6]

Mac Tip: Force empty the Trash

Hi guys,

If you are having problems trying to clean up your Trash on Mac even when you are using the "force" you need to know this tip.

I tried a lot of times without success to clean up my Trash using the command line below:

MacBook-Air-de-Caio:~ caiomsouza$ sudo rm -rf  ~/.Trash/*

After trying a lot, I discovery that if you press the Option button while you clean up the trash it will work and it will clean up bin files and others.

Sometimes the Trash on your Mac won't empty - even when you tell it to. Ever since Idragged and dropped a bunch of leftover Windows system files into my Mac's Trash bin, no matter how many times I tried to empty it, there those trashed files stayed, staring at me in defiance.

Luckily, The X Lab site offers a few options for force-emptying the Mac's Trash. Being acommand line gal, I used the old rm -rf ~/.Trash/* technique in Terminal, but apparently holding down the Option key while emptying does the trick too. Here's to empty trash bins!

Feliz Aniversário. São 7 anos do Blog.ProfessorCoruja.com

Amigo leitor,

Se meu blog fosse o meu filho ele estaria super triste comigo, mas felizmente ele é apenas um blog.

Esse ano eu esqueci do aniversário do Blog Professor Coruja, mas ainda em tempo vou comemorar escrevendo esse post especial.

O pior de tudo é que ano passado eu não lembrei e muito menos comemorei essa data tão importante.

A data do aniversário de 7 anos do blog é o dia 3 de Agosto de 2013, então hoje ele está com 7 anos e 9 dias, parece ontem quando eu começei a escrever e já se foram 7 anos, incrível como o tempo passa rápido.
